Dutch politician and member of the European Parliament for the People’s Party for Freedom and Democracy (VVD)
Bart Groothuis was born and raised in Twente, the Netherlands. Before starting his political career, Bart worked as a cyber expert at the Ministry of Defense. With that experience, he went to Brussels to make Europe, and therefore the Netherlands, safer in the digital field as well. Bart was installed as MEP in 2020.
As a member of the European Parliament for the VVD, Bart works on digital topics in the Industry, Technology, Research and Energy Committee. He is also a member of the INGE committee (special committee on foreign interference in all democratic processes in the European Union, including disinformation). He is also the first vice-chairman of the Iran delegation.
